As 2022 draws to a close, Misaki would like to thank all our guests who have supported us through this extraordinary year. To mark our 8th Anniversary, we have prepared a traditional Japanese dish that celebrates the passing of a challenging year: 年越しそば Toshikoshi Soba.

But first, let’s introduce the amazing appetiser!

Misaki 8th Anniversary Special – Appetiser Course

Taking centre stage, we have the Amaebi (Sweet Shrimp) topped with Caviar and Fresh Uni (Sea Urchin), on a bed of Negitoro and Ikura (Minced Tuna with Spring Onion; Salmon Roe): this is surely a combination that will light up your tastebuds! Pair off with the Puchina Salada (Crystal Ice Plant Salad) — the uniquely succulent crunch of African ice plant provides a cool, refreshing counterpoint to richer umami flavours.

Another unusual creation this month is the Umaki, Japanese eel wrapped in yakitamago, a special twist on the homely fare of grilled egg omelette. Round off the appetiser with Hamachi Sashimi (Yellowtail), Tako-su (Vinegared Octopus), Pirikara Konnyaku (Spicy Konjac), and finally, a side dish of Kuromame, Kuri Kanroni and Tazukuri (Black Beans, Sweet Chestnuts and Candied Sardines).

That’s a lot to work through! Wash it down with a complimentary glass of fine Sake, served warm or cold at your choice.

The highlight of our 7th Anniversary Special is Toshikoshi Soba. This traditional dish, made with buckwheat noodles, inherits its symbolism from the resilience of the buckwheat plant, which can survive severe conditions as it grows. Yet, soba noodles are easily cut with chopsticks, which represents the passing of difficult times.

The soba is served with Ebi, Oba and Satsumaimo Tempura (Prawn, Perilla Leaf and Sweet Potato Deep-Fried in Batter), and topped off with Okaka (Fragrant Bonito Flakes), Kizami Nori (Crispy Seaweed), Nagaimo (Japanese Mountain Yam), and finally, Onsen Tamago (Poached Hot Spring Egg).

Please pour the broth, which is served separately, boldly into the bowl and enjoy the comforting warmth of this seasonal creation.

In Japan, the month of May heralds a week-long string of public holidays known as Golden Week. Meanwhile in Singapore, May also happens to have 3 public holidays, the most of any month in 2021.

So if you’re in the mood for good food, we’re excited to present May’s Monthly Special featuring a truly exciting creation: Hon-Maguro Kama Shioyaki! (Salt-Grilled Bluefin Tuna Collar)

Appetiser, featuring Century Egg Beancurd Pudding

Before we get to the highlight, let’s first introduce the appetiser. This month, the spotlight is on the Pitan Tofu (Century Egg Beancurd Pudding), a creation that will surprise you with its smooth and creamy texture, laden with sweet, rich umami. This robust centrepiece pairs well with cleaner, simple flavours, by the combination of Tazakuri (Candied Sardines), Broccoli and Cherry Tomato together with seasonal sashimi.

Next, the highlight: Hon-Maguro Kama Shioyaki (Salt-Grilled Bluefin Tuna Collar). It’s practically a steak cut of tuna! Take a bite—you’ll find there’s hardly any bone—now it’s melting in your mouth—your tastebuds light up, exploding with the fragrance of grilled tuna, lightly salted, decadent, dripping with rich fatty goodness. Umai!

After an odyssey of flavour, refresh your palate with Inaniwa Udon: chilled, springy wheat noodles to be dipped in warm broth, lightly spiced with wasabi. On the side, we have Kurobuta Maki, an asparagus roll wrapped in “Black” Berkshire Pork Belly. Finally, fnish off with Kabu Osuimono, a hot, belly-warming clear soup made with Japanese turnip.

Dear guests! This Lunar New Year, welcome the blooming of spring with the February Monthly Special, where we celebrate this unewsually festive season by bringing twists on familiar favourites from Misaki.

This month, we zoom in on Misaki Kaisen Ankake – a traditional Hokkaido dish served with an extra splash of “sea-soning”, and Wagyu Niku-Dango Age – a Misaki classic with a hidden surprise. Also, this month we’re serving new year’s mochi together with our usual ice cream selection. Read on!
